Asif bin Barkhiya (peace be upon him) was one of the prophets of the Children of Israel and a contemporary of Prophet David and Prophet Solomon (peace be upon them). His name in Hebrew was "Asaf" and his father's name was "Barkiyah." The Holy Book states that when the Ark of the Covenant of the Lord arrived in the city of David, Prophet David (peace be upon him) gave hymns in praise of the Lord to Asaf to be sung collectively with his brothers, and he did so.
