Marlik Hill
Marlik Hill or Cheragh Ali Hill is one of the historical attractions of Rudbar, dating back about 3000 years. This ancient site was unknown until 1961 when a group of archaeologists began excavations in the area. In addition to 25 tombs, objects such as pottery, porcelain cups, bronze and ceramic statues, swords, and more have been discovered at Marlik Hill.
The existence of Marlik Hill reflects the ancient and mysterious heritage of Gilan Province. The Marlik cup, found beneath the debris of this hill by archaeologists, is a symbol of the Amard tribe in Gilan.
Archaeological research indicates that this place was used from 1000 to 1400 years ago and even earlier.
The people and rulers of this civilization, according to their customs and beliefs, buried their dead with formal and beautiful clothes and valuable and precious objects. This is why in all the tombs found in this hill, pottery vessels, beautiful decorative buttons, daggers, swords, ceramic and bronze statues, various objects made of precious metals such as gold, silver, and bronze, etc., are buried with the dead and can be seen. Pieces of old fabrics found under the soil of this hill indicate the existence of weaving industry and art thousands of years ago in Iran.
