One of the pristine and unique forests of Mazandaran Province is Shaltamas Forest. Shaltamas, located southeast of Qaemshahr in the village of Afratakht in the city of Arteh, is a local forest name derived from the name Shah Tahmasb. Shah Tahmasb Safavi during his reign built a spring resort in the pristine and completely natural forests of Afratakht village, a suburb of Qaemshahr County, which currently has no remaining traces, but in recent years many ancient objects have been extracted from this forest. The oldest part of this place is called Palang Spring. The locals call this place Shaltamas (meaning Shah Tahmasb). Get directions from the locals.
