Mojtahed Mosque or 63 Columns is one of the 38 historical mosques of Tabriz and is located on the west side of the Grand Bazaar Mosque and opposite the Carpenters' Bazaar. This building dates back about 450 years and is considered one of the ancient mosques of Tabriz. However, after complete destruction in a major earthquake during the Qajar period, about 250 years ago, it was rebuilt. The construction of this mosque is attributed to Haj Mirza Baqer Mojtahed, who died in 1285 AH. According to his descendants, this mosque became known as Mojtahed because it was built by him and funded by wealthy people of Tabriz.
