Goharshad Mosque
This building is one of the largest four-iwan mosques in Iran
It was built in 128 AH by the order of Goharshad Agha, wife of Shahrukh Timuri, and designed by Ghavam al-Din Shirazi in the Imam Reza shrine complex. Goharshad Mosque, with an area of 9309 square meters, has four iwans, a dome above or on the qibla iwan, seven prayer halls, several entrances, and a large courtyard. The largest iwan of the mosque is the Maqsura iwan or qibla iwan, decorated with muqarnas, stucco work, and paintings, supported by two pillars. The iwan's front is adorned with a Thuluth script inscription by Baysonqor Mirza and beautiful tilework. Another notable feature is the beautiful wooden pulpit known as the pulpit of Sahib al-Zaman.
