Description

Nahavand Temple

In the Dokhaharan area of Nahavand, with the discovery of a stone inscription in 1953, it was revealed that an ancient temple existed in this area. This temple, known as Laodicea, was built during the reign of Antiochus III, the Seleucid king, in honor of his wife.

Although today only the bases, capitals, and a few bronze statues of Greek gods remain from this temple, it still holds great attraction for enthusiasts of ancient history and architecture. This place is one of the pristine and scenic sites of Hamadan, reflecting the influence of Greek civilization on the Iranian region during the Seleucid era.
