Tehran Carpet Museum, a perfect display of Iranian handmade art
The Carpet Museum, like the Museum of Contemporary Art, was established through the efforts of Farah Pahlavi in Laleh Park in Tehran, which was called Farah Park before the revolution. The purpose of building the Carpet Museum was to collect a history of the Iranian carpet industry and to create a center for research in this field. This museum was opened exactly one year before the revolution on 11 February 1978 and is still considered one of the tourist attractions of Tehran. The Iran Carpet Museum consists of two parts: a permanent museum and an exhibition. The permanent museum displays a valuable collection of 150 pieces of historical and contemporary handmade carpets and kilims. If you are looking for one of Tehran's sights, it is better not to forget this remarkable museum.
