The Babol Museum, known as the Babol Treasure, is the only ethnographic museum of Mazandaran located in the former city hall building of Babol. Behind the museum is the historic Aghajan Nasab mansion, over 150 years old, which has been converted by the private sector into a cultural and artistic center.
This museum building was constructed in 1928 as the municipality or city hall. In 1995, it was handed over to the Mazandaran Cultural Heritage Organization for cultural use, and after restoration and renovation, it was inaugurated as the Babol Museum in February 1997.
This museum was open for 4 years with archaeology, ethnography, and wood sections, and in 2000, after major restoration of its roof and basement, it started operating as the only ethnographic museum of Mazandaran in 2003.
