Laton Waterfall Koteh Komeh Astara

To reach this beautiful waterfall, we have a beautiful path ahead; nearly 4 hours of walking through the heart of the forest and crossing forested hills lies ahead, which must be traveled alongside knowledgeable guides; but it is undoubtedly worth it. When you think about the destination, no matter how hard the path is, it becomes easy and pleasant for you. Of course, you can travel this route or part of it by local pickup trucks and Nissan vehicles.

On the way to the waterfall, we pass through the mountain slopes and enter the heart of a lush forest. Alongside our path flows the Lavandvil River, guiding us toward the meadows. After passing through all this beauty, with an elevation gain of 750 meters, Laton Waterfall reveals itself to us. There are still 500 meters left to the waterfall; however, the beauty and grandeur of the waterfall gift our eyes a fresh image.

This unique waterfall, with a height of 105 meters, holds the title of the tallest waterfall in Iran; a record frequently mentioned in sources, though some claim there are taller waterfalls in Iran that have yet to be recognized and measured. Some sources refer to this waterfall as the tallest four-season waterfall in Iran, which seems a better title. Of course, if we consider the 65-meter height of the second waterfall located 10 meters from the first Laton waterfall, the total height of Laton reaches 170 meters.

Above Laton Waterfall, there is a castle of the same name belonging to Babak Khorramdin, known as Espineh or Espinas Castle. If you are a mountaineering enthusiast, do not miss seeing this site, which is located at an altitude of 2005 meters. Rock climbing is also possible here, and climbers enjoy the experience of ascending the waterfall.
