The Mahi Mashu Waterfall in Langarud is one of the lesser-known natural and tourist attractions of Gilan province, located in the Otaghvar district near the villages of Khartay (Khurtay) and Paneh. This waterfall, with a height of about 9 to 10 meters and a pool about 2 meters deep, is situated among the lush and pristine forests of the area, offering visitors a stunning and peaceful view. The name “Mahi Mashu” means “Don’t go fish” or “The place where fish do not go,” named due to the absence of fish in the waterfall’s pool or the inability of fish to pass upstream beyond the waterfall. After reaching Khartay, you park your car and walk about 1 to 1.5 kilometers on a forested and sometimes rocky path. This route takes about 15 to 30 minutes and requires suitable shoes and caution due to slippery stones.
Important note: There are no signposts for this waterfall, so it is recommended to seek help from locals or native guides to find the exact path. Also, mobile signal coverage in this area is weak, so it is better to have an offline map or sufficient information with you.
