Tomb of Awn ibn Ali
One of the pilgrimage sites in Tabriz is the tomb of Awn ibn Ali, located on the highest peak of Mount Sorkhab, in the northeast of Tabriz, with a full view of the city. The exact date of its construction is unknown, but it is built in the Ilkhanid style using red stone and bricks. The building includes three rooms, a tomb, an iwan, two minarets, and five large stone columns. The iwan columns are made of blue stone, and there is a basin made of a single piece of stone in the middle of the building. This place was prosperous in the 9th and 10th centuries AH, but was damaged during the Ottoman rule and was repaired during the Safavid era and after the earthquake of 1193 AH. Major restorations were also carried out in 1342 AH.
