The Tomb of Seventy Mullahs is one of the most astonishing cemeteries
The 800-year-old cemetery of Seventy Mullahs is considered one of the strangest tombs in Iran. This tomb was created within the rocks, and the people of that era used large pens and hammers to build this tomb. The architecture of the graves is inspired by the style of the tomb of Cyrus the Great, making the architecture of the Seventy Mullahs cemetery unique and remarkable.
The area of this cemetery is more than 500 square meters and rests with an arched appearance in the eastern part of the village of Rups. Due to the special location of the Tomb of Seventy Mullahs, the graves are placed in a rocky space. Thus, they are protected from wind and rain and fortunately have not been destroyed.
When visiting the graves, your attention is drawn to the presence of holes on the stones! Each grave has 8 holes designed to allow airflow inside them. The Seventy Mullahs cemetery is one of the tourist attractions of Zahedan and was registered as one of Iran's national monuments in 2001.
