Imamzadeh Seyed Soleiman Kakarud in the village of Kakarud, a part of Rudsar County in Gilan Province, is one of the revered pilgrimage sites for the local people.
The shrine of Agha Seyed Soleiman, registered under number 10590, is one of Iran's nationally registered heritage sites, located in Gilan Province and Rudsar County.
The registration date of this national heritage site: 2003/10/24 (1382/08/02 in the Iranian calendar) and its age: Qajar era.
History and lineage of the Imamzadeh:
According to local beliefs, Seyed Soleiman is a descendant of the Shia Imams (probably Imam Musa al-Kadhim or Imam Reza, peace be upon them).
Some local sources consider him among the Alavi Sayyids of Gilan who migrated to this region in ancient times (probably between the 4th and 7th centuries AH).
Unfortunately, there is no precise historical document about the life of this Imamzadeh, and most information has been passed down orally.
Architecture and pilgrimage site:
The Imamzadeh building may be simple and traditional (similar to other shrines in Gilan with wooden or brick plans).
In some of these Imamzadehs, a zarih (shrine grille), green dome, and interior decorations with Quranic verses can be seen.
There is likely a local cemetery and space for religious ceremonies around it.
