Imamzadeh Mir Ali ibn al-Husayn (a) of Laristan, is one of the noble grandchildren of Imam Sajjad (a). The blessed and long life of that honorable person (about 103 years) granted him the fortune that his life coincided with the era of the infallible Imams (from Imam Ja'far al-Sadiq (a) to Imam Hasan al-Askari (a)). The spread of Shi'ism in southern Iran from the shores of the Persian Gulf to Isfahan at that time is attributed to the efforts of that honorable person. He possessed such eloquence that even Judaism, which is a symbol of stubbornness and obstinacy, was subdued by his reasoning and dialogue and converted to the Alawi sect.
After residing in Lar for 40 years, on the dawn prayer of the fifth of Shawwal in the year 249 AH, when his blessed head was raised from the second prostration for the greeting of the prayer, a bloodthirsty executioner drew his sword from its sheath and struck the illuminated body of that honorable person, and like his noble grandfather, Mawla Ali (a), he attained the blessing of martyrdom in the prayer niche. The pure body of that honorable person was buried beside a mountain called Qal'eh Azhdahak in the city of Lar.
