The Baba Afzal Shrine in Kashan is located in the village of Marq in Isfahan Province. Its foundation is believed to date back to the Mongol period. This monument was registered as one of Iran's national heritage sites on 21 February 1949 with registration number 373. This building is the tomb of Afzal al-Din Muhammad ibn Husayn Marqi Kashani, known as “Baba Afzal.” He was a scholar and mystic of the 7th century AH, and many of his works in poetry and prose, in Arabic and Persian, have been preserved. There is some disagreement about the date of his death, but it is most likely in the year 667 AH.
