Miankaleh Wetland
Among coastal sand dunes, forested marshes, and ponds of the Miankaleh wetland, you see birds, aquatic animals, and shrubs that you are unlikely to have seen before. The international Miankaleh wetland, one of the sights of Behshahr, is a spawning place for Caspian Sea fish, a refuge for migratory birds such as flamingos, pelicans, kingfishers, and swallows, and a habitat for tamarisk shrubs and raspberry bushes. The Miankaleh wetland, one of the sights of Behshahr, is part of the Miankaleh peninsula in Behshahr and covers an area of 100,000 hectares. This wetland is the first international wetland registered under the Ramsar Convention (International Treaty for the Conservation of Wetlands).
