Description

Golrokh Hill, a historical site from the pre-Islamic period located south of Chah Varz. This site was registered as one of Iran's national heritage sites on 24 Tir 1382 (July 15, 2003) with registration number 9220. After the Azhdahā Peykar Lar Castle, it ranks forty-eighth among the most important historical sites of Fars. The historical age of Golrokh Castle in the southern heights of Chah Varz, based on studies on pottery found in this castle, dates back to the Sassanid era. This view was further supported by the discovery of a coin. Examination of this coin showed that it belonged to the reign of Khosrow Anushirvan and was minted in the Darabgerd mint in Darab. Recent research by a master's student in archaeology has shown that the age of this castle dates back to the Parthian period, during which there were at least two pottery workshops.
