Iraj Castle or Gabri Castle is one of the largest castles in Iran and the world, built with raw bricks. It is said that the construction of this castle dates back to the Sassanid era. Iraj Castle, with an area of more than 200 hectares, is recognized as the largest military mudbrick castle in Iran and the world. The walls of this castle have a diameter of about 17 to 22 meters, and some walls were up to 25 meters high; however, due to natural erosion over time, the height of these walls today is about 16 meters. Only mud bricks and clay were used to build such a huge castle. Many watchtowers were placed in different directions of this castle; however, today only two of them remain intact.
In 2003, this castle was registered as one of Iran's national heritage sites. Get the exact location.
