Babak Castle is one of the historical attractions of Kaleybar County, located in the mountainous heights overlooking it. The elevation of the castle's location is about 2,300 to 2,700 meters above sea level, and it is surrounded by valleys 400 to 600 meters deep.
Babak Castle is also known by other names such as "Babak Fortress" and "Jomhur Castle," and its history dates back to the Parthian and Sassanian periods. This castle was for a long time the hiding place of Babak Khorramdin, the brave Iranian commander during the Abbasid rule, and his companions.
To visit Babak Castle, you must hike about three kilometers; however, this path passes through a winding and steep mountainous terrain. The access route to Babak Castle is not easy for all tourists and requires high physical fitness and professional mountaineering equipment.
