Kakhak Historical Castle of Gonabad

Old Kakhak Castle

The Kakhak Castle is located in the center of the city of Kakhak. Only a tower and a water reservoir remain from it.

This castle is situated at a point overlooking all of Kakhak and the surrounding lands.

This castle is one of Iran's registered national monuments, dating back to the Qajar era. Unfortunately, much of this historic castle was destroyed by the severe earthquake of 1968.

Since this castle is located on hills separated from the mountain and has a rectangular area with the tower in its center, it was impregnable against attacks from other tribes.
