Description

One of the historical monuments of Bandar Lengeh is the Afghan Mosque, which was added to the list of national monuments of Iran in 1975. The founding year of the Afghan Mosque dates back to 1853 during the Afsharid era and was built by a person named Haj Abdullah Afghan. This mosque is located in the center of Bandar Lengeh city in the Afghan neighborhood. Although the building belongs to the Afsharid period, architectural elements of the Safavid era can also be seen in it. The mosque has a simple appearance, and its columns are decorated with delicate and beautiful plasterwork. The mosque's ceiling is wooden, and its windows are lattice and plastered. The Afghan Mosque also has two prayer halls for summer and winter, which are still standing.
