El Goli, the shining and aspiring jewel of Tabriz, with a vast lake and an octagonal mansion at its center, is considered one of the most important tourist attractions of this city. This park, covering about 70 hectares, is located in the southeast of Tabriz, 7 kilometers from the city center, and its history dates back to the Aq Qoyunlu era and was developed during the Safavid period.
It covers an area of 5.5 hectares with a pavilion in its center. The El Goli lake, measuring 200 by 200 meters and with a variable depth of up to 12 meters, offers boating opportunities for visitors.
During the Aq Qoyunlu rule, it was built as a large pond and expanded during the Safavid era, serving as a water reservoir for irrigating the gardens of eastern Tabriz up to Tehran Gate and Tapli Garden. In the Safavid period, the pond was improved by removing sand and gravel and constructing stone walls. During the Qajar era, Qahraman Mirza, the eighth son of Abbas Mirza, completed the construction of this mansion and turned it into a royal resort for Qajar courtiers. In the Qajar period, it was built by Qahraman Mirza, the son of Abbas Mirza, as a royal residence for courtiers. In 1967 (1346 Solar Hijri), the Tabriz municipality demolished the old mansion and rebuilt the current building with the same original design but stronger and in two floors. The architecture of this mansion, with its beautiful combination, gives a unique charm to El Goli Park.
