Shah Abbasi Caravanserai
Robat Shah Abbasi or Shah Abbasi Caravanserai of Nishapur is a legacy from the Safavid era and one of the 999 caravanserais built across Iran by order of Shah Abbas I of the Safavid dynasty. This historic building has had various uses over the years. During the Qajar period, it was used as an orphanage, and in later periods as a police station, gendarmerie, and warehouse.
Today, this caravanserai has been converted into a museum and is one of the tourist attractions of Nishapur. The museum includes three sections: archaeology, ethnography, and a special section (museum of historical objects).
On the other side of this historic caravanserai, a handicrafts bazaar is also held. If you want to buy turquoise from Nishapur, one of the options is to visit the Shah Abbasi Caravanserai.
