Shah Mir Domes
The brick domes of Shah Mir, also known as "Mehraava" and "Shad Mehr," are located 10 kilometers south of Nishapur towards Kashmar, in the middle of an old cemetery. These brick domes, which are also registered as part of Iran's national heritage, are among the tourist attractions of Nishapur and one of the most important historical buildings of this city.
According to available information, there are still ambiguities regarding the turbulent past of the Mehraava historical site. Some historians believe that the presence of the word "Mehr" in the site's names indicates its historical connection to the ancient Iranian Mithraic religions before Islam. This is related to the Azarbarzin Mehr fire temple in Rivand Nishapur and the prevalence of Zoroastrianism during the Sassanid era and before. The Shah Mir domes, or Mehrabad domes, are among the tourist attractions of Nishapur in Razavi Khorasan Province and are registered national monuments of Iran.
