Hegmataneh Hill, which is also known as the largest historical hill in Iran, is one of the attractions of Hamadan that has many wonders. Among the wonders of this ancient city, the architecture and structured design of Hegmataneh can be mentioned.
Paved pathways, water supply canals, the use of square and regular bricks are part of the architectural wonders of this city. In excavations carried out on this hill, several golden tablets bearing the names of Darius II, Artaxerxes II, and others have been discovered. Also, broken pots, silver cups, gold vessels, stone columns, and more are among other ancient artifacts found on this historical hill. These artifacts are kept in the Museum of Ancient Artifacts located in the same city.
Among other ancient artifacts of Hamadan, the Gregory Stephan Church can also be mentioned, which is located in the eastern part of Hegmataneh Hill. This church was built in 1676 AD and is currently situated within the historical site of Hegmataneh Hill.
