Description

The Sefid Chah Cemetery is one of the tourist attractions of Behshahr and one of the first Muslim cemeteries. The people around the cemetery believe that the bodies of the dead do not decompose here. This belief is not a superstition; I will explain further that this belief is closely related to the structure of the cemetery.

The Sefid Chah Cemetery has soil with a lot of lime, which prevents the bodies of the dead from decomposing, or at least delays decay and rot. Also, the reason the cemetery is called "Sefid Chah" (White Well) is because of this lime, which has whitened the soil of the cemetery.

The Sefid Chah Cemetery, with a history of more than 1200 years, is registered on Iran's national heritage list and is the burial place of people such as the ruler of the north and the children of Imam Musa ibn Ja'far (peace be upon him).
