This sacred shrine is the oldest religious-archaeological monument in the Masal and Shanderman region, with a written history dating back at least to the year 1073 AH (361 years ago). Until the early 1980s, its building stood in traditional form, but due to the demands of the time and the deterioration of the old shrine building, a decision was made to fundamentally renovate the shrine. Inevitably, the old building was demolished and a new structure was established, combining local architecture and Islamic art, including the shrine, dome, and courtyard of Imamzadeh Shafi, equipped with modern facilities. Above the shrine, a golden dome was placed, and a metal lattice shrine was installed on the grave of Imamzadeh Shafi.
To the west of the blessed shrine lies the mosque of the village of Imamzadeh Shafi.
Between the mosque and the shrine are the graves of the deceased villagers and neighboring villages, the tombs of local elders and celebrities, and the martyrs' cemetery, including the grave of martyr Darab Salehi.
The village of Imamzadeh Shafi is named after a noble Sayyid from the descendants of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him and his family), who is connected through eight to nine intermediaries to the Imams. His shrine and tomb in the center of the village are a pilgrimage site for those in need. This revered Imamzadeh is highly respected and spiritually relied upon by the needy and the suffering in the region.
The beautiful and pristine natural landscapes of the village of Imamzadeh Shafi cannot be described with words. However, it should be mentioned that in the south and center of the village flows the Shanderman River; a beautiful and permanent river whose main source is the extremely charming and cool highlands of "Khoshke Darya" and "Doli Giriyeh." The riverbed varies, being rocky in some places and sandy in others, possessing such stunning beauty that every tourist wishes to rest for a while in the peace and quiet mixed with the pleasant music of its babbling waters. To these beauties should be added the presence of seasonal waterfalls "Savnawar" and "Taleb Dareh" and numerous spring waters.
