Historical Chookam Garden
The area of this garden is 41,989 square meters and is one of the notable works remaining from the Qajar era. This place is one of the historical, cultural, natural, and beautiful sites in Gilan Province. The Chookam garden, with its ancient and tall trees, some over 50 meters high, covers a vast area around it. In addition, the mansions inside the garden include an old mansion approximately 60 meters away from the main mansion, which is used as the residence of the owners. Also, the water-rich river beside this garden adds special cultural, historical, natural, and tourism beauties to this place.
History of the historical Chookam building in Khomam
This garden and mansion originally belonged to Naser al-Molk, the deputy of Ahmad Shah Qajar, and then was transferred to his son Hossein Qoli Khan Qaragozlu. The current mansion in the garden was built with the cooperation of Timur Tash, the ruler of Gilan. This building is a remaining work from the Qajar era, and its exact construction date is unknown, but it is estimated to have started around the years 1288 to 1290 in the Solar Hijri calendar.
