The Ahar Grand Mosque dates back to the Seljuk and Atabakan periods and is considered one of the most beautiful mosques in East Azerbaijan province in terms of architectural style and decorations. This mosque has 21 domes, which were added in different periods. The Ahar Grand Mosque features an open courtyard, a prayer hall with massive columns, and historical inscriptions.
This site was registered on September 29, 2002 (7 Mehr 1381 in the Iranian calendar) with registration number 6153 as one of the tourist attractions of Ahar in the National Heritage List of Iran.
