The Basiran Protected Hunting Area, with an area of 150,000 hectares, due to the presence of rare plant and animal species, is considered one of the important protected areas and one of the most valuable wildlife habitats in Iran; it is also regarded as one of the tourist attractions of Eqlid. Among the plant species present in the area are Dermané, various types of Astragalus, camel thorn, Koma, snake grass, safflower, Datura, carnation, Ferfion, tulip, wild tulip, Shah Tareh, Kalaghak, Penirek, tulip, violet, and Espand. Some of the resident animal species include ibex and goat, ram and ewe, fox, deer, leopard, wolf, rabbit, badger, hyena, jackal, and birds such as partridge, francolin, hawk, common buzzard, sea eagle, quail, lark, pied wagtail, black kite, and various migratory birds such as crane, duck, and various waterfowl.
