Sofikam Protected Hunting Area Bandar-e Turkmen

Another famous habitat for migratory birds in Golestan Province is the Sofikam Protected Hunting Area. This area is home to more than 130 bird species, at least 9 of which are migratory. Of course, in Sofikam, you can also see other animals. The Turkmen fox is one of the well-known animals of this area. Interestingly, Sofikam is also the habitat of the smallest Iranian mammal called the dwarf insectivore. Golestan Province, like Sistan and Baluchestan, hosts several mud volcanoes, one of which is located near Bandar-e Turkmen. The Goblekche mud volcano is situated near Sofikam.
